🧧Fortune & luck

Jaemulun (Wealth Luck)

The flow of money in and out of a life. Tradition's twist: fortune is measured not by what arrives but by the bowl that holds it.

Josangdeok (Ancestral Blessing)

The idea that ancestors' accumulated virtue shelters their descendants. Koreans say of a lucky escape: 'the ancestors pushed from behind.'

Aektaem (Warding Off Misfortune)

The traditional idea that a small misfortune pays off a larger one in advance. It is also a distinctly Korean way of steadying the heart after something bad happens.

Bujeok (Korean Talisman)

A drawing or inscription carried or posted in hopes of blocking misfortune and drawing fortune. Tradition drew them in red cinnabar on yellow gwaehwangji paper.
